How to hide/unhide specific drive in windows platform w/o using any software

Have you geeks, ever wondered that everyone is accessing your hard disk drives and viewing your files, sometimes maybe changing your files too. This might be a great security risk if your system is multi-user system.

I got a very simple solution for this. Just follow the below steps.

  • Right click on My Computer
  • Click Manage.
  • In Left Pane, Goto Storage -> Disk Management.
  • Now in right pane, you can see all your disk partition.
  • Right Click on any drive you want to hide, & Click  “Change Drive Letter & Path”.
  • A new window will appear, Click Remove.(NOTE: This only removes Drive letter, YOUR DATA’S WILL NOT BE DELETED)
  • Save the changes & Goto my computer & Check out whether your drive is hidden or not.

BEFORE HIDING DRIVE:(I’m gonna hide my G: drive)

G: Drive is there !!

AFTER HIDING DRIVE: (G: drive in gone :O )

G: Drive is gone :O :O

G: Drive is gone :O :O

To unhide your drive, just follow below steps

  • Right Click on My Computer.
  • Click Manage.
  • In Left pane, goto storage -> Disk Management.
  • Now in right pane, you can see all your disk partition.
  • Right click on drive(which you have hidden) & click “Change Drive Letters & path”.
  • A new window will open, click “Add”.
  • Now Assign a drive letter, & Click OK.
  • Now your drive in unhidden, goto Mycomputer & check out.

AFTER UNHIDING: (G: drive is back)

G: Drive is Back Again :D

G: Drive is Back Again 😀

You can hide multiple drives toooo !!
